As we talked about yesterday, DC Comics is reimagining the Hanna-Barbera character Snagglepuss for a new comic book series written by Mark Russell and with art by Howard Porter. Russell has impressed many with how he’s made The Flintstones a socially relevant dramedy, and with the new series The Snagglepuss Chronicles he plans to reimagine the title character as a 1950s gay Southern gothic writer. Stories will focus stories on the struggles and creative process of a playwright living in a world where people know he and other colleagues and friends are gay, but no one is allowed to speak of such things aloud.

Here then is our first look at the new Snagglepuss, giving advice that is as true for writers today as it would have been in 1950s America.
